To have success growing your family we first must figure out what the problem, if any, is. The ultimate treatment plan will be determined after our physicians complete their consultation with you and any testing that may be helpful.
The evaluation may include:
- Full consultation with our physicians, including review of health and reproductive history.
- Assessment of ovulation and egg quality.
Hormone levels (FSH, LH, estradiol, etc.) may be assessed.
This is done by simple blood tests that are often covered by insurance.
- Assessment of the fallopian tubes
An x-ray dye non-surgical diagnostic study, HSG or hysterosalpingogram, is utilized here.
- Assessment of the uterus
Simple ultrasounds are often used here. A non-surgical diagnostic study, SIS or saline infusion sonogram, is also routinely performed to assess the uterus. This test is helpful if polyps, fibroids or scar tissue are contributing to infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss.
- Assessment of sperm quality
Motility, concentration, forward progression, morphology and the presence or absence of anti-sperm antibodies are all reviewed. This testing is done after a sample has been collected, either at home or in our facility, and delivered to our Andrology lab.
At the completion of the testing and diagnosis phase, our physicians meet with patients and review treatment options and come to a conclusion about a treatment plan together.
