Because of the high quality of care and long history of success in our egg donor program patients have travelled to our Portland clinic in the last year from New York City,
Los Angeles, Boston, Detroit, Honolulu and as far away as London. Our patients are from all over the nation and from around the globe.
Egg donation as part of an in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle is designed to assist women who are unable to produce their own healthy eggs for conception. This process gives women with previously poor or even hopeless fertility prognoses an excellent chance to become pregnant and subsequently deliver a healthy baby. Our goal is to make the egg donation process as positive and stress-free as possible.
The Donor Egg Program at Oregon Reproductive Medicine offers new hope for women who have a normal uterus but have declining or lack of ovarian function resulting from absence of ovaries at birth, surgical removal of ovaries, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, premature or natural menopause or advanced maternal age. Women who carry a genetic defect who want to prevent passing the trait or disease to her offspring may also consider the use of donor eggs.
Egg donation involves the removal of eggs from the ovary of a donor who has undergone ovarian stimulation with the use of fertility drugs. The eggs are then placed with the sperm from the recipient’s partner so that fertilization can occur overnight. The resulting fertilized eggs (embryos) are then transferred to the recipient’s uterus following hormonal preparation, which makes the lining of the uterus conducive to implantation.
Out of town patients
We work with many patients from out of state and in some cases with patients living outside the United States. Living so far from Oregon Reproductive Medicine may make you think that your treatment would be complicated but that isn't the case. In most cases out of town patients need very little local monitoring during their treatment cycle. Not only that our out of town patients have complete access to the staff at Oregon Reproductive Medicine via telephone, email and FAX.
